Who’s Your Daddy?

Date: Pre-2013

Presented by: A curious Salon member

Assignment: As artists, we have all been inspired and influenced by the work of others. For this monthly assignment, members were asked to trace their artistic roots back to those people whose work first caught their attention. Maybe it was Picasso; maybe it was Chaplin or Scorsese; or Ella Fitzgerald or Mahler, Baryshnikov, Pink Floyd.

Maybe it was even a photographer like Paul Strand or Richard Avedon. Be it a poet or a politician, each person should come prepared to talk about and illustrate who or what it is that sparked their interest in being an artist and how that work shaped — and continues to shape — their artistic vision.
