Assignment: Make 1-4 pictures that are inspired or informed by the work of photographer Abelardo Morell.

In the spring of 2014, Atlanta's High Museum of Art mounted a retrospective of photographer Abelardo Morell's work. Morell's work spans decades and includes landscape, still life and camera obscura images in both color and black-and-white. He is known for his technical expertise and his ability to employ fundamental photographic techniques to create compelling, thought-provoking images.

In April of 2014, Southlight members traveled to Atlanta to tour the exhibition. The impact of his work on the members was substantial, and they decided to make it an assignment to create some photographs using the same techniques and/or subject matter that Morell uses in his work.
