I discovered Saul Leiter's work late in my photographic journey. When I first saw his photographss, I immediately knew that I had found a kindred artistic spirit. Viewing Leiter's photographs is like listening to Miles Davis play the trumpet. One of Miles' famous sayings is repeated in my head every time I go out to photograph in the street, "Don't play what's there. Play what's not there". Leiter's images show us what everyone else missed.
